Prevention Starts Before Problems Appear

You know now that many placement challenges do not begin with a single major event.

Instead, they often develop gradually through unclear expectations, communication gaps, or learning environments where students feel hesitant to raise concerns.

Research on clinical learning environments suggests that psychological safety must be intentionally cultivated through leadership behaviors, communication norms, and expectations established before learning begins (McClintock & Fainstad, 2022; Einarsen, Hoel, Zapf, & Cooper, 2020).

Faculty play a critical role in shaping these conditions before students ever arrive on site.
